1981 was a horrible year for music

I drove from Columbus to Champaign on Saturday.  It’s about a 4.5 hour drive and I had the chance to listen to the entire Top 40 Countdown for this week in 1981 on one of the Sirius 80s Channels on the radio.  Check out the list below with thanks to http://weeklytop40.wordpress.com/1981-all-charts/.  It is one of the most forgettable lists of music that you can ever think of.  There are only a handful of songs that are even regularly played today.  This year is such a transitional year in music.  I still listened to the entire list though.

My favorite albums from 1983 are coming soon, but I got distracted by a different project

As it is starting to get cold outside and the days are getting shorter, I was thinking what are all of the movies I want to watch and re-watch this winter.  I was thinking, what’s my top 10 list, then it became my top 25, then 50 and so on.  I then started to think what are the best comedies or action movies that I want to watch; and my list quickly has grown to over 130 movies.  I was also thinking, for my teenage kids, what movies must they see (and this is probably why my list is very short on hard “R” movies).

I’ll publish this entire list over the next week.  I have grouped the movies into five categories: Great Movies, Comedies, Sci-Fi/Comic Book, Action/Thrillers, and Others (really a mix of Animation, Kids’ Movies, Musicals, Silent Films, Some Classics that you need to see but aren’t my favorites and some I just didn’t know how to categorize).  I am starting with Comedies.

Let me know what you think though it’s hard without seeing the entire list.  I have not ranked these, I’ve just put them in alphabetical order.  Feel free to tell my on Twitter @astein94 or comment here.
